Summer 2010

What a glorious summer

We don’t want to jinx it but how fabulous is this weather we’re having?! We really have been blessed with a glorious summer so far and there is still lots more time to enjoy it. It’s so nice to see so many of you out and about on the river.

We would also like to welcome all our new berth holders to the marina and hope that your first season with us is a fun one!

Hog Roast

Speaking of fun, our Annual Berth holders’ party will take place at the marina on Saturday 31st July at 5.30pm.  We plan to start serving appetizers between 5.30pm and 6pm, with the hog being served around 7pm. There will also be music, so we can all test out Adam’s new “stage”! Maybe he will get up and christen it with a song for us?!

This year the hog roast will be a ticketed event, (tickets are free of course) and are available to pick up from the marina office. There will be two tickets available for each boat plus tickets for children.  The caterers will be collecting the tickets as they serve up, so please remember to bring them with you! As in previous years the event will be BYOB.

We look forward to seeing you there.

New staff

You may have noticed a new face in a Tingdene shirt around the marina. We welcome Richard Gray to the staff here at the marina. Richard will be in charge of the day to day maintenance of the marina.

His next important job will be creating a proper compound for the bins, so we can keep them out of sight and get that corner of the marina looking spick and span again.

If you have any suggestions or ideas that you would like to put to Richard, please email them to waltonmarina@tingdene.net

Contracts and contacts

We will again be chasing up those people who have not yet returned their signed mooring contracts. A condition of mooring at Walton Marina is that we must have a current contract on file. If you receive a new copy, please fill it in and return it to the marina office as soon as possible. Many thanks.

Also please may we request that you keep us informed of any changes to email addresses, mobile numbers, or any relevant contact details, in case we need to contact you in an emergency?

Walton Marina

Social Group

Do you know we have a Social Group at Walton Marina?  No? Well we do and we welcome all boaters to join us.  We arrange various joint functions and trips during the boating season from trips to Windsor, Marina BBQ's and training if required.  It's a good way to travel in safety if you are a new boater and also a good way to learn about all things boaty!

If you are not on our e-mail mailing list and would like to be, please send a message to susanne.oud@brieurope.com.

You can also check out our website.  www.waltonboaters.net.

Newsletters & Gate Codes

We are delighted that so many of you have signed up to receive the newsletters by email. Because the response has been so good we are considering dispensing with the paper version in 2011. We will still print a few and have them in the chandlery for people to pick up but we will probably cease the mass mail out of them.  Please make sure that that we have a valid email address for you by emailing us at waltonmarina@tingdene.net

Also, please remember that you can receive the gate codes by text on the day that they change if you wish. If you would like to do so, please let the office know and we are happy to arrange this for you.

Marina Tariff

We would like to take this opportunity to once again clarify the tariff structure to you.

The annual in advance rate is the lowest cost option and is afforded to those signing up for an annual contract. Payment is due before the start date of the contract. So if your contract starts on the 1st of the month, please don’t be surprised if you receive word in the middle of that month that, as the moorings are still unpaid, we are no longer able to offer you the “annual in advance” rate. Of course prompt payment will avoid any such action.

We would also like to clear up some confusion regarding direct debits. Those of you paying your annual contract by direct debit have made a commitment to pay for your mooring for the full year. If you choose to cancel your contract before the year is up you will continue to pay for remaining length of the contract. The only exception to this is if you are selling your boat through our brokerage department, where we have a refund policy in place should your boat sell before the end of your mooring period.

If you have not committed to an annual contract, whether you pay in one installment or by direct debit, you are charged the monthly seasonal rate. If you wish to change from the monthly seasonal rate to an annual contract, please do not hesitate to contact the office on 01932 226305.

Coffee Mornings

If you haven’t made it to a coffee morning yet this year, we hope you can make it to the next one which will be held on Saturday 7th August at 10.00am at the main marina building.
