WINTER 2009

Christmas Already?

Where has this year gone?

Still, the upside is that Spring will be here just as fast and we can all get on with what all the hard work and saving the pennies is all about – enjoying our boating and having a jolly good time on the marina.

On the subject of saving, there is still time to take us up on the offer of paying your next years mooring early at this years VAT rate – this applies to anyone on the annual tariff irrespective of when your moorings are due. Even if you have just paid your mooring you can still benefit as long as the invoice for the next year is paid this year. Beat the VAT man if you can – better in your pocket than his!

Please note that the office is closed after 22nd Dec so this effectively is the cut off date for payment.

Broads Authority

Special notice

You should have received, in the post, a Broadsheet   ( No.21 ) giving details of a new Act of Parliament starting in April 2010 giving them jurisdiction to go into ‘adjacent waters‘ i.e.: private dykes and marinas and inspect all boats therein   to ensure that all boats moored on the Broads are displaying their river tax. You will also need to produce a valid insurance certificate (third party at least) before they will issue a new tax disc. They should already have a copy of your Boat Safety Scheme certificate. If you have any concerns or questions or have not received the notice please call them on 01603 610734.

Gate Codes

To cut down on cards being given out with a year’s supply of gate codes we will soon be able to arrange for codes to be texted to your mobile. If you would be interested in this method of receiving and storing your codes please contact the office.

Christmas Closure

This year the marina office and workshop will be closed from 5pm on Tuesday the 22nd December 2009 to 9am on Saturday 2nd January 2010. The marina will be checked every day and you can leave a message on the answer phone if you have any concerns and we will call you back. The shower block will be cleaned as usual for those of you who spend Christmas or New Year on the marina. Those of you who spend lot of time here know that the winter months on The Broads are some of the most beautiful with quiet rivers and picture postcard vistas. Boats are decorated with Christmas lights, the club is open and a good time is had by all. GO ON, GIVE IT A GO!

Theft from marina

Unfortunately there has been a break-in on one of the boats on the Wherry Quay. As always, we feel it is worth pointing out that the best way of foiling thieves is not to leave any expensive equipment in plain view and even better if the equipment is portable and small, why not take it home or tuck it away in your boot ready for your visit?

At Your Service!

With winter here again we know that some of you live a fair distance from the marina. If, for any reason, you cannot visit the marina, please feel free to call the office if you are concerned about your boat or if you would like us to check your electric bollard.  You can purchase electric by card over the phone and we will willingly top it up on your behalf.  This is all part of the service that we offer our customers so please ask.

Electricity Supply

When you plug into the electric supply we ask that you make sure that your lead does not come into contact with the water. We hate to state the obvious but electricity and water do not mix and we have had to pull out a couple of leads that were fully immersed. As in other years we need to remind you that the electricity supply to the marina cannot be guaranteed.  Therefore, please do not rely on this as your only means of winterising your boat.

Please leave hoses tidy as not to cause a tripping hazard.

Please don’t forget that pontoons are slippery when wet, and remember to take care on frosty mornings.

London & Birmingham Boat Shows 2010

The London Boat show will be held from 8th – 17th January at ExCel in London and will feature an “Inland Day” on Sunday the 10th. Tingdene Marinas Ltd. and Tingdene Boat Sales Ltd will be exhibiting on stand NO77P, so if you are visiting, please stop by and say hello.

We will also be exhibiting at the Birmingham Boat & Caravan Show at the NEC from 23rd-28th February 2010. We will be showing the new Atlanta 24 cruiser that we have been appointed sales agents for. Please stop by stand 1045B for a look if you are visiting.

Keep in Touch!

It is very important for us to have your input on matters in and around the Marina.  So, if you have any ideas or thoughts on the current facilities or what you would like to see for the Marina in the future please email:

brundallbaymarina@tingdene.net

Methods of Payment.

Could we please ask that if you are paying for small items such as electric cards that you use a debit card or cash? We are charged a 2% levy on all credit card transactions and this will keep costs down for everyone.

Merry Christmas!

Tingdene Marinas Ltd. and all the staff and associate businesses at Brundall Bay would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year.
